Bennett Tours to be re-arranged

The 20+ members of the Avon Ventrure Expedition arrived 4 hours late at Entebbe on Saturday because of unknown airline problems. Despite this the usual welcome party was at the airport - Sammy and those who had travelled from Jinja.

Some small instability in Uganda has meant that not for the first time the "Bennett Tour" has had to be re-directed and Lake Mburu and Queen Elizabeth II National Park.

Negotiations continue with a local firm to use Buwenda as its base for raft expeditions on the Nile.

This year is the 10th Anniversary of the start of the Buwenday project at Jinja. Criticised by some as being far too ambitious considerable credit is due to those leaders who formulated the idea more than 10 years ago and have had the drive and determination to push it through to its conclusion. Sadly one of those who started the project, Colin Bennett, is unable to join the party this year but we are told he is directing the operations from his home in Bristol.

Salopia 2002

The UK Uganda Network join members of Polish Partners and Gapp at Shropshire's International Scout Camp on Sunday 28th July. Rumour has it that our man there (Dave Thomas) spent some time talking to Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts on the Bouncy Castle!

Good to know that Dave Thomas is progressing well to a full recovery from his injuries last year.

Pross leaves Uganda HQ

Our dear friend pross who married recently has left her job at BP House, Kampala and is now living in the Mbarara District. We have no doubt that she will be back Scouting very soon.

No to uniforms

The UK Uganda Nework has reluctantly had to decline offers of uniforms for Uganda. The old UK uniforms would have been widely used by Scouts in Uganda but the cost of shipping and the import charges have forced the Network to decline recent offers.

However Uganda will still get some uniforms as Scout Shops are shipping their old stock to Nairobi for use by the Africa Region
