Uniforms for Uganda
U.K. Scouting lends a hand
As part of the Uganda 2000 appeal aimed at helping to develop Scouting in Uganda,
Scout Shops Limited. has donated £2,000,000 worth of much needed equipment and
uniforms. The loading of a container which held 200 tents, 265 rucsacs and 90
sleeping bags as well as old style Scout and Guide uniforms, was overseen by
Members of the Uganda 2000 team. Elspeth Eggleton from Uganda 2000 said, 'this
donation wilt make a terrific difference to Scouts in Uganda who will be really
appreciative of this generosity'. This donation is in addition to the thousands
of scarves that have been collected by local Scout Groups and placed in the Uganda
2000 Appeal collection boxes in all branches of Scout Shops Ltd. The container will
also be taking much needed educational materials to Uganda. David Markwell, Scout
Shops Limited's Managing Director said, 'We are delighted to have been of so
much help to Uganda 2000 appeal and are pleased to have been able to contribute
to the world-wide development of Scouting'.
